This is Buenos Aires Argentina
I really do wish that I could say that the reason we went to and stayed in Buenos Aires was because we decided to go on a glamorous ski trip and stay in a gorgeous 5 star hotel. NOPE!!!! This was the instigator for a deep FEAR to travel in Colby and I (more so Colby I still want to travel I just don't have the money to do so). ANYWAYS-----for our year anniversary, I REALLY wanted to be able to go to Paraguay (where Colby served his mission). He had only been home for just over a year so the language and people were still so fresh in his mind----and oh how he missed them. So, I booked us tickets. We laid down a cool $2400 in airfare (which we had scrimped and saved for that whole first year)! No- we really couldn't afford it. However, I knew that if we didn't do it then- we never would! We boarded the plane with knots in our stomachs and started our adventure! When we got to Argentina we went to check in to board the flight to go to Paraguay and the person checking our passports told Colby in spanish that he was able to go but I wasn't because I didn't have a visa- we then ran around Buenos Aires for two days getting my visa from the Paraguayan embassy (which was a RAT race). That Friday- we went back to the airport to FINALLY go to Paraguay and the checker looked at our passports and told Colby in spanish that I could go but he couldn't- lo and behold- his visa had been dated wrong but the first checker never noticed!!!!!!
At that point in our trip- we were so exhausted that we decided to just head home. Had we decided to go get his visa- we would have had to wait till at least the next Monday to get it and we were headed home on Tuesday. So we boarded a crammed flight back to the US.
Needless to say- amidst the chaos- there was a ray of light- the Buenos Aires Temple is really close to the airport to we got to drive past it a few times- I wish we would have just stopped and gone through it!
So there ya go- I haven't been many places in my life but I do have stories! Hopefully someday we will make it to Paraguay!
